AB 686

Housing Civil Rights for California

Someone's race, skin color, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability should not limit where they can live. That fundamental value is now under attack by the federal government.

It's time for California to step up and protect our residents.  AB 686 (Santiago) would require government agencies in California to combat the enduring legacy of segregation and create more equal housing opportunities for all Californians.

AB 686 was signed by Governor Jerry Brown on September 30, 2018. The law will go into effect on January 1, 2019.
